How to Keep Long Hair Healthy πŸ’‹

Long hair. It's a struggle.

Picture this: It's Monday morning. You wake up early to do something with your hair. You look in the mirror. Gorgeous😘

You open the door. The wind hits you. Hair in face. Hair on lipgloss. Walking down the drive you brush hair out of your eyes to see your reflection and are faced with this:

It's the look I wear most often.

In this post I'm going to share how I keep my hair from breaking and becoming damaged from everything life has to throw at it. Hopefully I'll be able to give you some tips on keeping yours healthy- or maybe just persuade you never to grow your hair long!

My first piece of advice is to find a routine that works for you. No two people are the same, and the same goes for our hair. While I feel my hair is healthiest and looks great from washing every other day, I have friends who wash their hair every single day, and others who only need to wash it three times a week. Do some research on your hair type and see what you feel most comfortable with. Take into account your hair colour, texture, length and what makes you feel great (because ultimately- that matters more than anything!)

Secondly: Dream Lengths πŸ˜ If I didn't absolutely love it, I wouldn't mention it, but if you're wanting to keep your hair healthy, definitely look use these hair products. I use the shampoo and conditioner every other day and let me tell you: it smells great, the bottles are huge and last ages, they are so moisturising that you don't need to use hair oils afterwards AND they work wonders on the condition of your hair.
Boots have an offer where you can get the shampoo, conditioner, no haircut cream and hair mask for just £12 (saving you £9) thank me later girls πŸ’“

Finally: heat and styling. Heat is so damaging for hair, and even if you are super careful, it can still lead to breakage and splitting. Personally, I try to limit the heat I use on my hair and only blow dry in the winter. I've been using a diffuser for my hairdryer recently which means you can use a lower heat setting and dry your hair quicker- win win really! Depending on the hairdryer you own will depend on where you can buy the extension from, but I will leave a link to the one I have. I absolutely LOVE my GHD hairdryer because of how quickly it dries my hair and how long it has lasted me. If you're thinking about buying a new dryer, definitely consider the one I leave linked below as I promise you- it'll be with you a long time!

Also, consider ways to style your hair that can be done without heat. If you like to wear your hair wavy, why not sleep with it in a bun or in plaits? If you don't like your natural hair down, why not try some new ways to wear it up? If you can't give up the straighteners just yet, look after your hair and use heat protectant. It doesn't have to be expensive- you can pick up a bottle for less than £3 πŸ˜Š

In summary: look after your hair- it's gorgeous! πŸ˜‰
Lots of love,
Marti xxx
